How to Report a Bug on a Website
A practical guide to reporting website bugs with enough detail for developers to investigate quickly.
Start with where it happened
Include the exact URL, the account type if relevant, and whether you were on desktop or mobile. Vague location notes force teams to hunt.
If you use a visual bug reporting tool like OwlTrace, the page URL and device context can be captured with the report automatically.
Show what you saw
A screenshot or short recording beats a long paragraph. Capture the broken UI state, then add one or two sentences about expected behavior.
List the steps once
Write the shortest path that still reproduces the issue. Skip unrelated navigation unless it is required to trigger the bug.
